Rita Emma Mathers
12 September, 1931 – 4 July, 2021
Rita Mathers of Cornwall, passed away peacefully in her 89th year of July 4, 2021 with her loving family at her side at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center. Born in Montreal she is predeceased by her siblings Mary Walton (Christopher), Ralph Mathers, Edward Mathers (Denise) and Thomas Mathers. She will be sadly missed by many nephews and nieces. Rita had a successful career as assistant to the President of Pricewaterhouse for several years in Montreal. J.J. MacDonnell took the position of Auditor General of Canada and asked Rita to work with him in Ottawa. She was dedicated to her job working 10+ hours a day, making it her life. A strong minded person however always politically correct. Generous to a fault, donating to many charities she also loved euchre, crosswords, scrabble and long walks. Cremation has taken place. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Burial at a later date in Cote de Neige Cemetery, Montreal.
