Rosabelle Sauvé

Rosabelle passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the age of 99 at the St. Joseph Continuing Care Centre. Her death happened the very same day as the Sauvé family was having their annual get-together in Ottawa with about 35 people, young and old, being present. This turned into an instant and day-long Celebration of Life of Rosabelle. It was a happy gathering, just the way she would have wanted it. Rosabelle was the cherished wife of 52 years of the late Adelard Sauvé (1917 – 1991). She was a devoted mother of her six children, Maurice (Alma), Hervé (Ursula), Marie Genois (Rodrique), Roger, Aline Richardson and Gérald. A seventh child, Robert, died when he just a few days old. Rosabelle was the grandmother of 14 and the great-grandmother of 21. Rosabelle was one of 17 children of Olivier St Pierre (1881 – 1940) and Marie-Rose Legault (1884 – 1967). She is survived by two younger sisters Elizabeth Briere and Mae MacDonald. Other siblings included Millie, Beatrice, Josephine, Noella, Hector, Hilaire, Maurice, Cyrille, Philorum, Joseph, Hilda, Alma, Wilfred and Hélen. Rosabelle was very active in the many communities she lived in. She sold real estate along with Adelard, Maurice and others in the family business. She belonged to many social clubs and loved to play bingo, cards and bowling. Rosabelle and Adelard went to parish suppers, socials, fairs, plowing matches and talent shows in Glengarry and region. Rosabelle was also a volunteer at the Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital. As a child, Rosabelle liked poetry, which in hindsight now reveals a lot about her sweetness and kindness. Two of her favourite poems were (1) Deep down in your heart, Where God alone can see, Plant a sweet forget me not, And call it after me. (2) Ne jouez pas avec l’amour, Car il vous jouera un tour, Ne jouez pas avec le Coeur, Car ceci porte malheur. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Salon Funéraire Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, (613) 525-3400 on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2 pm.  Interment, Cimetière Sacré-Coeur.  A reception will follow at the Salon Funéraire Glengarry Funeral Home.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. Joseph Continuing Care Centre or a charity of your choice appreciated.
