Ross Blakely

Ross Fredrick Blakely, born on July 10, 1940, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in Long Sault, ON, surrounded by his family. Ross is survived by his wife Katherine (Bosley) and their daughter Debbie Rush (Larry) of Massena, NY and son Greg Blakely (Lindsey) of Queensborough, ON.

He is also survived by his grandsons Jamie and Brandon Rush of Massena, NY and Jeff and Robert Dewit of Prince Rupert, BC. Surviving siblings are his sister, Hazel Empy (Wendell) (Al Adams) of Belleville, ON and his brother, Maurice Blakely (Helen) of Madoc, ON. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved and enjoyed spending time with.

Ross was predeceased by his parents, Marguerite (Genereaux) and Woodford Blakely of Madoc Township, ON. He grieved the losses of his brother Alec Blakely (Patricia) of St. Catherines, ON and sisters Mary McCann (Clayton) of Madoc, ON and Barbara Preston (Clifford) of Madoc, ON.

Ross will be fondly remembered by the many friends he made while he enjoyed hobbies as a hunter, fisherman, camper, bluegrass enthusiast, guitar craftsman and by his country music bandmates and those he entertained in the many years that he pursued his passion of guitar playing.

He will be remembered fondly by those he associated with during his 11 years at Pigden’s Radio and TV and by those who worked with him during the close to 35 years he was employed by Ontario Hydro.

A celebration of life will take place in Spring, 2022 at a date to be determined later.
