Ruth McDonald (MacLeod)
January 31st, 1935 – August 16th, 2020
Mary Ruth (Popeye) McDonald (née MacLeod); passed away peacefully on August 16, 2020 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Ewen (the Farmer) McDonald. Devoted mother of her twin daughters, Alexa McDonald and the late Janice McDonald (August 6, 2020). Dear sister of Donald Wendell MacLeod (late Brenda). Ruth is predeceased by her parents Donald Alexander MacLeod and Mary Catherine MacArthur, as well as her cherished sister, Audrey Cumming [late WJ (Bill)], brothers John James (Lorna), Roderick Munro (Gloria) and infant brother Roderick Samuel. Ruth was a feisty lady who remained strong in character and spirit throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Alexa and was loved by many extended family members.
Gatherings for both Ruth and Janice are as follows: Family and friends may pay their respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road (east of Bank) Thursday, August 27th, from 7 pm to 9 pm. *Pursuant to maximum attendance regulations, please call the funeral home to pre-register your attendance. Entry will be strictly limited to registered visitors attending at the confirmed time-frame only. Attendees will be required to wear face masks and asked to respect and practice social distancing.*
A Visitation will be held at the Munro and Morris Funeral Homes, 114 Main Street, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Saturday August 29, 2020 from 11:30 am. to 1:30 pm.
A graveside committal service will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Cemetery in St. Raphael’s, ON on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Attendees will be required to wear face masks and asked to respect and practice social distancing at all gatherings. Donations in Ruth’s memory can be made to the Friends of the Ruins of St. Raphael’s or the St. Andrews United Church (Round Church). As a Memorial to Ruth a tree will be planted in a memory woods.
