Sharon Hollice Kirkey

30 August, 1939 – 25 December, 2021

Sharon Kirkey died peacefully on Christmas day at the Cornwall Community Hospital. Pictured above in just two of her many facets, Sharon was known and loved for her honesty. Sharon was the daughter of Andrew Hugh Kirkey and Vivian Francis Macdonald. In 1957, Sharon married Robert Lafleur. Four children followed: Cheryl, Mark, Cathy and Kelly. Following them, grandchildren: Cheryl, Matthew, David and Andrea. Now there are great grandchildren and loved ones too numerous to mention. In 2005 Sharon married Gaston Charland. Together they shared many happy years on Dundee Avenue. There, Sharon also found the Ostler clan across the street and she remained part of their family to the end. Sharon’s affinity for beauty made her an excellent gardener, and her nurturing soul was evident when she loved on the many children in her life. In 1995, Sharon graduated from St. Lawrence College and began a new career in addictions counselling. Providing the required candour, Sharon worked to support anyone in need. She never told tales and she never spoke of her part in helping others. As a family, we are just beginning to understand the depth of her contribution to the community. We are thankful for her love and guidance. We share a sense of pride because of how she lived and the lives she touched. A celebration of Sharon’s life will take place in the spring when it’s time to plant. She’ll love that.
