Sheila Anne Tremblay (O’Meara)
Monday, June 26th, 1939 – Friday, November 13th, 2020
Sheila Anne Tremblay (nee O’Meara) passed away surrounded by family on November 13, 2020 at Cornwall Community Hospital, aged 81, after a valiant fight against cancer. Lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Louis, and by her children, Micheline, Patricia Sauntry (David), Sandra Brancatelli (Gino), and Pierrette (Steve Vetrone). Sadly missed by her grandchildren Marco, Luca, Kaitlyn, Alex, Finnegan, Sean and Shea. Dear sister to Stephen, Patrick, Maureen, and Kathleen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her son Guy, her parents Lambert and Loretta (nee O’Hearn) O’Meara and her brother Thomas. Sheila was born on a farm in Newboro, Ontario and she never lost her connection to the land; her home and cottage always boasted colourful gardens. She was the family chronicler, a wonderful cook, a voracious reader, and she loved old musicals. Her curiosity and keen intelligence, coupled with a desire to contribute to her community, led her to have an interesting and accomplished life, and many benefitted from her efforts. She also had a great sense of humour, a trait that can help smooth life’s rough edges, and one that will be sorely missed by those who knew her. The family is very grateful for the excellent care given to Sheila by the kind nurses and doctors of the 6th floor south at Cornwall Community Hospital. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. A visitation with controlled attendance will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt St. Cornwall (613-938-3888) on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Those who wish to attend the visitation must call 613-938-3888 between 9 am-5 pm to reserve a time to attend. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory at all times while inside the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Cornwall on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11 am. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory inside the Church. Interment will be held in the St. Columbanus Catholic Church Cemetery, Elgin, Ontario.
