Stephen Stewart

Tuesday, February 2nd, 1965 Wednesday, November 18th, 2020

Born on February 2, 1965, Stephen died peacefully at home after a hard-fought battle with ALS. Stephen leaves to mourn, his wife Connie (nee MacDougall), children Jennifer and Ian along with Jasper, Riley & Aidan Leroux and his mother Catherine (nee MacIntyre). He is predeceased by his brother Allan (Debra) and father, Archie. Survived by his three nephews Mathew, Tyler and Andrew. Also mourning his loss are the MacDougall family and his many relatives and friends. Stephen worked for Glengarry Memorial Hospital where he used his skills in carpentry, plumbing and heating. He managed the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance departments and was respected by those who worked for him. He was also a volunteer fireman where he ended his career as Fire Chief of North Glengarry. Stephen took his volunteer job very seriously, responding to calls no matter what time of night or how little sleep he had. When his physical health began deteriorating, he had to make the difficult decision to resign because he could no longer give 100% and felt that was unfair to his men and the citizens he served. He was also an avid outdoorsman. Soccer and hockey were his favourite sports to play when he was younger and golfing and fishing were his passions late on.

I have to believe that Steve, Al and Archie are out in a boat on a lake, with a beer in one hand, fishing pole in the other, tapping their feet to a Celtic tune. You are going to be greatly missed by all. I am comforted to know that you are finally at peace and will be watching down over us. Until we dance again, love and miss you forever.
Connie
