Theresa Wattie

15 September, 1948 – 5 September, 2020

WATTIE, Theresa May – With her family by her side at The Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Saturday, September 5th, 2020 passed peacefully after a year long battle with cancer, at the age of 71 years. Beloved mother of Elizabeth “Beth” Wattie. Loving sister of Maureen Wattie, John Wattie (Lise), and Joseph Wattie (Mary). Predeceased by her parents John Anthony “Tony” and Elizabeth May (née Winder) Wattie and by her sister Pearl Upson. Theresa lived her life heart first and head strong. She was the person everyone went to if they needed an ear to listen, or someone to hold their secrets close. She had a passion for life not easily matched for travel, the ocean, a good book (or every book), black cherry ice cream. Theresa’s life motto was to never judge a book by it’s cover, and she certainly loved to delve into the pages of your soul given the time. Her embarrassing yet contagious laugh could fill a room and your heart in an instant. Becoming a mother was her proudest life achievement, and she loved her daughter with a strength and entirety unrivaled through life. As fitting as a perfect pair of bookends, we will celebrate her life on her 72nd birthday, Tuesday, September 15th, 2020. The inurnment and celebration will take place at 1pm in Notre Dame Cemetery, Cornwall. The family wishes for any Memoriam Donations to be given to Maurice J. Grimes Lodge (210 Melrose Ave Ottawa, ON, K1Y 4K7), where Theresa was supported during her treatment. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West, (613-932-8482). In accordance with Provincial Regulations, practicing social distancing and face coverings will be required.
