THEORET, Vernon “Red” – peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Cornwall Hospice on Monday February 10, 2020. Vernon E. Theoret of Cornwall; age 93. Beloved husband of Mabel (neé Price) Theoret. Loving father of Steven (Kelly Elliot) of Fort McMurray, Kelly of Campbellford, and Bonnie Szuch (Steve Kantor) of Oshawa. Proud grandfather of Kaylan, Lyndsay, Sabrina Szuch, Cody and Garrett Leblanc, Shelby and Hailey Theoret. Brother of Marina (Raymond Lalonde), Gilda (Lucien Imbeault), Wayne (Diane), Clifford (Rita), and David (Gladys). Predeceased by Darrel, Armand, Norvil, Raymond, and Leatrice.Dear son of the late Eloi Theoret and the late Beatrice (neé Leblanc). Red served in the Army, Airforce and Navy from 1944 to 1955. In this time, he fought competitively winning 39 of 40 fights including three middleweight titles. He judged with the Canadian Amateur Boxing Association until 1982. He was a great entertainer not only with his music but with his many stories. He worked as a forman at Domtar construction for 25 yrs. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to LAHAIE & SULLIVAN CORNWALL HOMES EAST BRANCH 614 First Street East (613-933-2841). A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Thursday February 13, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Cremation to take place and burial at a later date.
