William “Bill” Edward Rankin
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bill on Thursday, December 7th, 2023 at the GlenStorDun Lodge at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of Ruth Rankin (nee Johnston). Dear father of Debra Grignon (Alain) and Shelley MacRae (Murray). Proud grandfather of Sarah (Patrick), Rebecca (Luke), Ashley, Shannon (Jacques), Courtney (Scott) and great-grandfather of 9. Family was everything to Bill and they always came first before anything else. Bill was a retired Captain with the Cornwall Fire Department where he served for 32 years. He was an avid sportsman playing hockey, lacrosse and baseball. He also coached baseball. He was a hobby farmer and enjoyed duck hunting. Bill was predeceased by his parents; William and Orpha (nee Hart) Rankin and by his siblings; Camilla Roberts, Rhoda Markell, Marjorie Bourgon, Audrey Darling, Verna Franklin and Maurice Rankin. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888). A Memorial Service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 3 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made in Bill’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society.
