William Heward
William David Heward, age 78, a Carleton University graduate (four-year commerce degree) quietly crusaded most of his life to save the planet from man-made climate change. He sent letters to political and intellectual leaders at all levels. William argued the Corporate Act must change to make corporations adopt and obey a code to save all life and matter down to their basic physics (“molecular morality”). William survived two open-heart operations, two chest implants and major bowel and stomach-ulcer surgeries. He always was a studious serious painter until, in his later years, a stroke ended all that. He used a walker for bus outings as long as he could. Too weak to live in his apartment, he could not be saved by Civic, Heart and Bruyere Hospitals. He died October 11, 2020 in St. Vincent Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Burton and Frances (Westell) Heward and sister Beverley Brady, he leaves to mourn brother John and family, brother Burt Jr., and several nephews and nieces. Always too ill for much employment (twice for Revenue Canada) he was respected as a trumpet player by fellow musicians in hometown Cornwall. For decades, he lived with and helped his parents. He and Burt Jr. were best friends most of their lives. With COVID-19, his ashes are to be buried in a private gathering at the family plot in Cornwall’s Woodlawn Cemetery. Years ago, William David wrote “No Death Notice.” This was a Life Notice.Condolences/Tributes/Donations
