William Knarston Taylor

Dr. Bill, November 24, 1926, died unexpectedly in his 94th year on Tuesday November 10, 2020 at Harmony Hills Care Community, Toronto due to COVID complications.

Loving husband of Marion Merle (nee Main) (deceased) and beloved father of Dierdre (Linda). Dear brother to John (deceased) and sister-in-law Nancy. Loving and proud Uncle to Elizabeth (Neil) MacGregor, Susan Loree (Neil), Peggy (Jim) Reid, Kathy (Roger) Mitchell, Susan Etherington, Robb (Julia) Main, Ian Main, other extended family, several cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. Bill will be fondly remembered by his many friends in Cornwall and Toronto.

Dad started at UofT dentistry right out of high school in 1945, the 1st class after the war. He graduated in 1950 and practiced dentistry for 47 years in Cornwall. He loved his work and was dedicated to his patients and staff and was the on-call dentist for the jail for many years. It was impossible walking anywhere with dad as he was constantly stopping to say hello and get caught up – he seemed to know everyone in town!

Dad was a proud Cornwallite who loved to cycle and jog along the river and was an avid skier but his passion was the animals in his life especially his dogs. He was a lifetime member of the Cornwall Kennel Club spending many happy evenings at dog classes and stewarding at the CKC dog shows.

He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a keen sense of humor who liked to make people laugh and as a dentist with a sweet tooth.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the compassionate people who cared for dad at Harmony Hills. He was well known to all the staff and they made his 6 years there very happy.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society, Trinity Church, Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Animal Centre or charity of choice gratefully acknowledged.

A celebration of life and interment will take place at a later date in Cornwall.
