CORNWALL, Ontario – Luck was in the air at the second annual Lift-Off Charity Casino Night fundraiser.
Roughly 100 people enjoyed over a dozen gaming tables (operated by PartyTime Entertainment), silent auction, cash bar, and live music by local guitarist Bob Cote on Friday.
“We’re here to support Lift-Off – we go every year,” said Danielle Dion, as she threw down her cards.
Festival chair Terry Muir was fairly pleased with the response, noting that it was in line with last year’s attendance. He anticipates the event will bring in a few thousand dollars.
“Everyone’s having a great time and we’re glad they came,” said Muir as he scanned the St. Lawrence ballroom.
He also addressed the roughly $5,000 that Lift-Off still owes Cornwall police for providing security in 2014.
“Our plan is to have the debt satisfied before the event,” said Muir.
More fundraisers are on the horizon leading up to the 21st anniversary of the music and hot air balloon festival, including the second serving of the ‘Bacon & Beer Bonanza.’
The four-day event takes place at Lamoureux Park from Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12.
