CORNWALL, Ontario – Heart of the City has completed its Historical Walking Tour of Cornwall and now the more than 40 beautifully created plaques and their histories have been compiled into a book.

“People have been telling us throughout this process that they wanted to see a book of all of the illustrations and histories showcased by the plaques,” said Todd Lihou, Centretown Coordinator with Heart of the City.

The book will be debuted on Thursday, June 27 at Cline House Gallery on the corner of Second and Amelia streets in Cornwall at an event running from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

At the event, guests will have the opportunity to talk with artist Pierre Giroux, the creative mind behind the plaque illustrations and get the chance to purchase a hard cover copy of the book signed by Giroux.

The hard cover edition is $60, while a soft cover edition will also be available for $50. Copies will be on sale after the event at the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

“There’s an appetite for local history that we have tapped into with this tour. Since the plaques began to be installed three years ago people have been asking us ‘When is the book coming out?’ We’re happy to say the book is ready and we have every confidence it will be a success,” said Lihou.
