CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall Transit staff are ready to make an anti-bully fashion statement for the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG.
Scott Szabadka, transit operator and BGC board director, is challenging other city departments to step up and participate in Pink Shirt Day 2016, a national anti-bullying campaign hosted by the non-profit, on Wednesday, February 24.
“We are putting a challenge out to other city departments in hopes to sell more T-shirts,” said Szabadka.
For the past five years, all of the $10 pink T-shirts have sold out.
Jacquie Richards, the club’s executive director, says the short-sleeved garments will go on sale at Baxtrom Your Independent Grocer and Scotiabank Cornwall on Monday (Februray 1).
“Our pink T-shirts run out fast, and 2016 will be the same,” she said.
And there’s a new addition to the campaign, as well as a new catchy slogan and fresh social media movement.
Richards unveiled this year’s T-shirt design featuring a rock star and the motto: “It’s cool to be kind” and a hot pink toque with the Twitter hashtag: #BULLYFREESDG.
“This year, we decided to take a different direction with the campaign and focus on positive behaviour since the antidote of bullying is kindness,” said Richards.
The stylish headgear will be availble for $10 at the BGC 506 Clubhouse.
