CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Encore Education Centre (CEEC) held their seventh annual Chicken Dinner Fundraiser at the Cornwall Legion on Sunday, March 10.
Organizer and Chicken Dinner Convener Carley Foulds hoped to raise $2,000 that evening which would go to support the CEEC’s operations.
In addition to the delicious dinner that included chicken, mash potatoes and gravy, coleslaw and fresh carrots, there was also an auction with items donated from organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Some of the notable items that would be bid on in the auction include a Farm Boy basket, a watch from Pommier Jewellers, world champion maple syrup and a print by Glen Scrimshaw donated by it’s owner.
“This event is a tremendous social opportunity and we have people coming here since the beginning,” said Foulds. “Of course, it is the volunteers who really make the event.”
The Encore Education program is an award winning program that offers a unique learning experience for adults 50-years-old and over, with no term papers, no exams and no grades.
Foulds said that they had sold 160 tickets for the event, which sold out on Wednesday of that week.
