LANCASTER – South Glengarry has an appetite for construction.

Habitat for Humanity Seaway Valley will be hosting a spaghetti supper fundraiser with an artsy twist and live acoustic performances at the Lancaster Legion on Saturday (Feb. 27).

“As the spaghetti fills the plates and the music starts, there will also be a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, and a ‘Lily Schreyer’ painting raffle,” said Charles Leclair, special events and marketing coordinator for Habitat Seaway Valley.

The meal will be served at 5 p.m. Admission is $10.

Musial entertainment for the evening will include Virginia Louise Dipierro, of Virginia’s Folly, Peter John Fortin, and Joe Hehir, Lancaster resident and songster. Show starts at 7 p.m.

In addition, Lily Schreyer, a renowned artist and wife of former Governor General Ed Schreyer, donated an original piece called ‘Basket of Fruit’ to help raise funds towards the new Habitat Seaway Valley home being built on Victoria Street in Lancaster.

The volunteer-driven, faith-based, non-profit organization’s highly-anticipated first ‘home build’ in the Township of South Glengarry is slated for spring 2016. Eleven Habitat homes have been built to date in Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry, helping 11 families and 25 children.

Habitat Seaway Valley would also like to thank the Lancaster Legion for donating their services and for providing all the food for this event.

“As the 2016 Glengarry home build will be taking place right here in Lancaster for a local family, we were very quick to jump onboard by supporting this event,” says Bill Bresee, Lions Club president for the Lancaster Legion (Branch 544).

Supper tickets and painting raffle tickets can be purchased at the Lancaster Legion, Henderson’s Grocery, and the Habitat ReStore in Bonville.

Painting raffle tickets are $5 with the draw date taking place at the fundraiser at 9 p.m. sharp. The painting will be on display at Henderson’s Grocery in Lancaster from February 8-22.
