CORNWALL, Ontario – Two young Cornwall boys have raised $1,900 for Carefor Hospice Cornwall through running a lemonade stand.

The brothers, Jameson and Jaxson Derochie presented the cheque to Hospice on Friday, Aug. 16.

“I was totally blown away. I wasn’t expecting that much,” said Sandy Collette, Fundraising Coordinator at Carefor Hospice Cornwall. “Our community could use a lot more kids like them.”

Jameson, 11, wanted to raise money for Hospice this year after his uncle passed away at Hospice two years ago. He said he hopes to do another, but different, fundraiser next year.

There are several upcoming fundraisers in the Cornwall community that will be supporting Carefor Hospice Cornwall, including a fundraiser at the Brass Buckle on Sept. 25 and the annual YourTV Cornwall Hospice Telethon on Nov. 2.

The YourTV Hospice Telethon is the biggest fundraiser for Hospice of the year. Carefor Hospice Cornwall needs to raise $600,000 annually to maintain its services.

Since 2009, Carefor Hospice Cornwall has supported more than 1,500 patients and their families during the most difficult times in their lives.
