CORNWALL, Ontario – Before you show off your Halloween costume, try a purple Children’s Aid Society T-shirt on for size to mark Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Stand united with CAS and get your shirt with the popular slogan ‘Break the Silence/Use Your Voice’ written across the front in neon green for only $10.

All 62 schools across SDG, over 137 businesses/service providers, and nine other communites from across eastern Ontario will be dressing for the cause.

“Participating in this event shows the community that you care about our kids and youth,” said Kimly Thivierge, public relations manager for CAS. “Let’s unite against child abuse and neglect.

T-shirts are available in adult and youth sizes in both French and English, at Baxtrom’s Your Independent Grocer and the CAS office (150 Boundary Road).

All proceeds go directly to the Community Kids Camp Fund.

And for making the fashion statement, all registered participants will be added to a prize draw.

Students have a chance to win an electronic prize package with a laptop and a printer. Meanwhile, a lucky business, organization, or group will be the recipient of a Prestige Catering prize package.

Only United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry residents are eligible for the prize draw.

Thivierge thanked their sponsors, Mocktails, Prestige Catering, and Cornwall Dental Arts for helping to make their October campaign successful.

To register, contact Kimly Thivierge at 613-938-5305 or email at kimly.thivierge@cwcas.ca. Then on Friday, Oct. 17, take a picture of your group dressed in the purple T-shirts and e-mail her the photo.

The draw will take place on October 31. Winners will be contacted on the same day. All participating groups and the winners will be posted on the Children’s Aid Society of SD&G Facebook page and on www.cassdg.ca in early November.
