SLIDESHOW: Slices of Apples & Art Studio Tour

CORNWALL, Ontario – Get a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic process this weekend with the 24th annual Apples & Art Studio Tour.

Peel back the layers of the two-day event this Saturday and Sunday, as 42 artists throughout Cornwall and the United Counties share their masterpieces and creative sanctuaries.

This free two-day event is held between 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. across 22 locations throughout the region, offering some delicious apple treats along the way.

“People can expect to be dazzled by the depth of creative talent that is participating in the tour this year,” said Jacqueline Milner, event co-organizer and owner/operator of Image-ine Photography.

Artists will be exhibiting at a local group location or will be opening their private studios for visitors to enjoy their work in progress and find out more about their processes. Styles will range from written word, photography, pen & ink, glass and textiles to paint, beads, wood, gourds and mixed media.

To get the most out of the tour, Milner suggests picking up a brochure through ‘Your Arts Council,’ visiting the Cornwall Tourism office or www.applesandart.ca. There is also an Apples & Art app available for iPhone and android devices.

The brochure, website, and mobile app lists the open studios and locations as well as the artists participating at each locale and what they do.

Bright red apple signs will be in place to help guide art lovers who take the beautiful autumn drive throughout the region during the tour.

Milner noted the event is also an opportunity for local artists to garner sales and make new contacts for future commissions and exhibitions, in addition to the positive economic spinoff from event-goers.

Each participating artist brings their individual gifts and ways of working to the tour, gifts that are uniquely their own,” she said.
