Cornwall, Ontario – The Agapè Centre’s annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser at the Agora on March 24 attracted over 100 attendees, raising an estimated $2,000. The event featured a competition among local chefs, with Matt Hutt’s Mexican Street Corn soup taking the top prize.

Attendees sampled gourmet soups and voted for their favorites. The $20 ticket included a ceramic bowl to take home. Other competing soups included the Agapè Centre’s “Famous Caesar Salad Soup,” Carol-Ann Breedyk’s “Rustic Lemon Chicken Orzo,” Luigi Famiglia’s “Cream of Chicken a la Luigi’s,” The Spicy Pearls’ “Spicy Pearl Magic,” and last year’s winner Séguin Patate’s “First Place French Onion.”

Lisa Duprau, Executive Director of the Agapè Centre, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Empty Bowls is all about food and having a nice warm meal, which is what the Agapè Centre is all about.” The event also featured a bake sale and a silent auction, contributing to its success.
