VERO BEACH, Florida – St. Peter’s Parish Deacon Peter McBride was arrested in Vero Beach, FL, earlier this week and charged with soliciting for sex.
McBride is one of 173 individuals arrested by the Indian River County Sherrif’s department in a multi-county investigation into sex trafficking at spas.
McBride was visiting as a Deacon and was allowed to minister at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. He was released on $1,000 bond according to reports from TCPalm.
The Alexandria-Cornwall Diocese released a statement to the media on Friday, March 1.
“This afternoon we learned through the local media that Peter McBride, a deacon for the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall, was arrested in Vero Beach, Florida, where he spends his winters,” the Diocese’s statement reads. “In accordance with our diocesan Safe Environment policy, Mr. McBride has been suspended from ministry effective immediately. Also in accordance with our policy, this situation has been referred to the Committee for Safe Environment. We have no further comment at this time pending further investigation of the facts of the situation.”
McBride is listed as a Deacon at St. Peter’s Church.
The most prominent individual to be charged as a part of this multi-county investigation in Flordia is New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
