CORNWALL, Ontario – A 56-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 17, 2019 and charged with the following:
• Sexual assault x 9
• Sexual assault with a weapon
• Forcible confinement x 7
• Assault x 11
• Assault with a weapon x 4
• Threats x 2
• Break and enter
It is alleged the man sexually assaulted his ex-wife on multiple occasions and prevented her from leaving the residence. It is further alleged the man assaulted her using a knife and a hammer, as well as made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 17, 2019, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
