CORNWALL, Ontario – MPP Jim McDonell presented the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) with a $993,065 investment from the province of Ontario.
“This support will play a crucial role in strengthening community safety in Cornwall and surrounding area,” said Jim McDonell, Member of Provincial Parliament. “Our government is addressing the concerns of our community,” said McDonell. “That’s why we believe in putting resources directly into the hands of police services, as they are the experts in maintaining public safety and our primary partners in keeping Ontario communities safe.”
McDonell made the presentation at CPS headquarters on Friday, Dec. 13.
The funding is a part of a $195 million, three year investment from the province into municipal police services across Ontario through the Community Safety Policing Grant.
The money will be invested in personnel, new equipment, and training.
“The Cornwall Police Service is grateful to have the support of the Ontario government through the Community Safety and Policing Grant,” said Danny Aikman, Chief of Police for the Cornwall Police Service. “This funding provides our service the ability to address local priorities, as well as priorities identified by the provincial government.”
