The Cornwall Professional Firefighters Association held its annual Fill the Boot drive for Muscular Dystrophy Canada on June 8th, 2024. The fundraiser took place at the intersection of First and Pitt in the downtown core. Firefighter Daniel Heroux, an ambassador for the fundraiser, shared, “Every year, we run this campaign where we fill the boot and collect funds for muscular dystrophy. Along with my colleague Matt Richer, we organized the event today and got help from our members from the association to come out and help raise funds.”

The association has supported Muscular Dystrophy Canada for over 50 years and raised over $5900 last year, contributing to a lifetime total of over $125,000 since 1972. Heroux added, “The reaction has been very positive; so many people want to help and donate to a great cause, and the funds raised will stay in Canada.” This annual drive continues a longstanding tradition of helping those affected by muscular dystrophy.
