Government acts to end postal strike
Statement by federal labour minister.

The federal government seems poised to force an end to the month-long strike by 55,000 Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon has said that he is referring the dispute between Canada Post and CUPW to the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

If the board determines negotiations are an impasse, it has been directed to order the strikers to go back to work.
