CORNWALL, Ontario – The Kinsmen Club of Cornwall is hoping to see you during one of their biggest and most anticipated fundraisers of the year, the 13th annual Pizza Party.
This year on Friday, March 29, attendees will be able to indulge in the best all dressed pizza of six to eight local pizza franchises.
“This is one of our major fundraisers,” said Kin Scott Beck, Chairman of Pizza Party for the past three years. “We usually have a sell out crowd. We enjoy that and it’s a lot of fun to have six to eight different pizzerias show us their best pizzas. It allows people to taste some of the best pizza in the country because Cornwall is known for its pizza.”
Each pizza will be marked by numbers to remain anonymous, and attendees are encouraged to vote for their favourite.
“They get to taste them all and judge them,” said Beck, explaining that each attendee will be given a voting card. “Nobody knows whose slice is whose, like a blind taste test…everyone has their own personal taste preference.”
Beck said the event is geared towards local charities that directly impact children and youth wellness in the region.
“Its always children’s charities, whether it’s Koala Place Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, the Longue Sault Public School Spec Ops program, Child and Youth Mental Health Services, Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall and Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said Beck.
Traditionally, three to five cheques are presented throughout the evening.
“There’s also a silent auction, there’s entertainment, lots of jokes and a good time,” said Beck.
Tickets can be purchased for $25 each or $200 for a table of eight at Cornwall’s Scotiabank, by messaging the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall on Facebook, or by emailing scott.beckathotmail.ca.
“This great event keeps selling out and we are so grateful,” said Kin Rick Shaver, founder of Pizza Party and past Chairman. “Kin Dan and Kin Scott have continued to add new ideas that make the evening fun while we make money for community groups. It’s because of the support of our pizza restaurants and all the people that contribute gifts to the silent auction that we continue.”
