CORNWALL & SDG, Ontario – Old Man Winter is still kicking around in our region. According to Environment Canada, the following areas could see total snowfall amounts of 25 to 35 cm by the evening of Friday, Feb. 7:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Heavy snow and hazardous winter conditions are expected throughout Friday afternoon, projected to taper off by the evening and end by midnight.

“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays,” read an Environment Canada statement.

Snow started to fall Thursday, Feb. 6 which lead to the third local school bus cancellation of the school year; some UCDSB schools were also closed amid labour strike action. School buses were again cancelled throughout the region on Friday, Feb. 7, making for an extra long weekend for students.
