The Optimist Club of Cornwall hosted its beloved annual “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Cornwall CivicComplex. The morning event brought families together for a delicious meal and holiday cheer ahead of the evening’s Santa Claus Parade.
Children attended for free, while goodwill donations were welcomed from parents. The breakfast menu featured pancakes, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, juice, coffee, and hot cocoa, all prepared by hardworking Optimist Club volunteers.
Jody Archambault, Chair of Breakfast with Santa, expressed her joy at the event’s turnout. “It’s fantastic. Families come out, the kids get to see Santa, and they enjoy a nice meal. It really brings the Christmas spirit home,” he said.
The event also provided a meaningful opportunity for youthinvolvement. “I particularly love that my JOI [Junior Optimist International] kids come to volunteer. They bus tables and make sure everything is clean. It’s a great way for them to give back,” Archambault shared.
For many attendees, the highlight was meeting Santa Claus, with children eagerly lining up to share their Christmas wishes and snap aphoto. Reflecting on the morning’s best moments, Archambault added, “I think my favorite part is when Santa comes. It puts a lot of smiles on people’s faces.”
As one of Cornwall’s cherished holiday traditions, Breakfast with Santa once again set a festive tone for the season bringing forth feelings of nostalgia and the magic of Christmas.
