CORNWALL, Ontario – Service providers from two local seniors homes in the City of Cornwall have requested funding to make repairs and renovations to their buildings.
The money would come out of Social Housing Reserve Fund, which is supported by the seniors home service providers, who contribute 50 per cent of their annual budget surpluses to the fund. As of writing the fund sits at just shy of $2.06 million.
Beek Lindsay Seniors Residence Inc. has requested $140,000 from the fund to help cover the cost of replacing their roof. The total cost of the roof replacement project is $240,000.
The other service provider, the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph Housing Corporation, which manages Marie de la Ferre Apartments are asking for $81,160 to modernize the buildings elevators, landscaping, fire panel replacement and canopy replacement. The total cost of those projects is $325,534.
Cornwall City Council must approve withdrawals from the Social Housing Reserve Fund. They will be considering both proposals at their meeting on April 8.
