Theft suspect turns himself in

The suspect in a recent series of thefts in Cornwall has turned himself in to police.

Early this morning, Joseph MacDow, 27, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with robbery, two counts of theft under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

It is alleged Nov. 16 the man stole money from a Fourteenth Street West establishment and the same day robbed a Fourteenth Street West restaurant. It is alleged Nov. 21 the man stole money from a Brookdale Avenue restaurant.

At the time of the incidents, the suspect was bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

After the Cornwall Police Service asked for public assistance, the suspect was subsequently identified through further investigation by a member of the Criminal Investigation Division, with the help of several members of the community.
