United Way Centraide SDG launches first Handbags for Hope online 50/50 raffle

Cornwall, Ontario (April 25, 2022) – The United Way Centraide SDG (UWC SDG) is excited to launch its first-ever online 50/50 raffle as part of its spring fundraiser. Sponsored by Your Credit Union, this year’s Hanbags for Hope will run from April 25 – May 19 and will include a 50/50 raffle and an online handbag auction.   On Monday, April 25 tickets were available for the 50/50 on Rafflebox. The raffle will run for four weeks, ending on Thursday, May 19. The winner, to be announced on May 20, will take home half the jackpot in a luxurious YSL bag valued at $3110.

From May 12 – 19, UWC SDG will also be hosting an online handbag auction with a small selection of purses in a variety of styles and colours from indie and well-known designer brands.

“While we hope this will be the last time our signature spring fundraidser will be digital rather than in-person, we’re really excited to host our first online 50/50 raffle,” said Juliette Labossière, United Way Centraide SDG Executive Director. “Fundraising has been challenging over the past couple of years, but it’s pushed us to innovate and try new strategies to raise money for our work in poverty reduction and our 16 member agencies that are running life-changing local programs.”

All money raised from Handbags for Hope stays in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and is invested in local agencies and programs that are tackling #UNIGNORABLE issues such as poverty, mental health and hunger.

By managing investments in a wide range of programs – including youth mentorship, counselling, food security, essential skills training, mental health awareness, sexual assault support, and specialized services – UWC SDG ensures that every dollar donated fills gaps in care and is addressing the most pressing needs in our communities.
