CORNWALL, Ontario – Our country is celebrating its 152nd birthday on Monday, July 1 this year. This July long weekend will see various events throughout Cornwall and SDG, as well as various adjustments to traffic and parking routes. Some local services and businesses may also be impacted. Here is a comprehensive list of what is opened and closed in our city on Monday:

Municipal Services and Facilities 

City Hall, municipal offices, the Benson Centre, and Cornwall Public Library will all be closed.

The Civic Complex will remain open with access to the walking track and washrooms.

The Aquatic Centre will be open for a leisure swim from 2:00 to 3:25 p.m.

Outdoor pools will be open for a paid swim from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Outdoor pools are located at the following parks: St. Francis, Terry Fox, St. Joseph, Reg Campbell, and Mattice.

Garbage and recycling collection will be pushed ahead by one day and the landfill will be closed.

Cornwall Transit offices will be closed and regular buses will not be running. A free Canada Day shuttle will make stops at 10 locations across the City from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. For a full schedule, visit the City of Cornwall website.

Local Businesses 

The Beer Store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and closed on Monday.

The LCBO will be open regular hours on Saturday, open until 6 p.m. on Sunday and closed on Monday.

Food Basics will be open until 9 p.m. on Saturday, until 8 p.m. on Sunday evening and closed on Monday.

Baxtrom’s Your Independent Grocer will be open regular store hours throughout Saturday and Sunday, however it will be closed on Monday.

The Cornwall Square will be open regular hours on Saturday and Sunday, but closed on Monday.
