CORNWALL, Ontario – The St. Lawrence College grounds were alive this Saturday, Apr. 29 with the energy of over 600 participants during the Cornwall Run to End MS.

Event organizer, Karen Torrie-Racine says that this has been the biggest race to date, having doubled in size to raise a whopping $47,687 for the cause.

“We have heard nothing but positive feedback since the event,” said Torrie-Racine. “Everyone from a newbie running the 5K to a seasoned Marathoner were thrilled with the course, the awesome friendly volunteers and last but not least, the beautiful scenery.”

According to the MS Society of Canada, there are an estimated 100,000 Canadians living with the disease, and is typically diagnosed in young adults between 15 and 40.

All proceeds from the race go directly to the MS Society, who are working to find a cause and cure for the disease.

While everyone has their own reasons for running, the Run to End MS unites runners in a common cause.

The event had something for everyone with races ranging from a 1K Kids Run and 5K walk to a full-blown marathon.

Cornwall residernt, Christain Belair won the marathon portion of Saturday’s Run to End MS, with Ottawa’s Richard Borsos winning the 10K race, and Williamstown’s Nicholas Chaput finishing first in the 5K.
