CORNWALL, Ontario – With its live music, midway, and of course, the food, this year’s Ribfest is shaping up to be one for the books.

Despite the moody weather expected to hit throughout the week, event Co-Chair, Terry Muir says that the rain isn’t enough to dampen his spirits.

“We’re Optimists, after all,” laughed Muir. “The show goes on rain or shine, so we’re not too concerned.”

The four-day event is set to take place in Lamoureux Park, beginning on Thursday, and running until Sunday. With the midway already beginning to set up, it won’t be long before the ribbers roll in, filling the air with the sweet smell of meat.

With six rib vendors bringing the flavour to this year’s event, some old favourites are set to return.

“We’re really excited to have so many returning vendors,” said Chairman, John Lucio. “And it’s more than just ribs – it’s a great free event for people to enjoy.”

With live music ranging from local grungers, Sevengate to the blues rockers of River City Junction – there’s bound to be something pleasing for every ear.

“What I enjoy most is just looking out at the crowd and seeing all the people happy and with their friends and family, just enjoying the free festival,” said Muir.

With lots of work to be done before Thursday, Lucio says that it doesn’t stop once things get going.

“Your work isn’t done, but you catch a good, exhilarating breath when you see the crowd enjoying themselves,” said Lucio.  “It’s very refreshing.”
