CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation (CCHF) is launching a new annual fundraiser party that will transform the Nav Centre.

The Great Gatsby Gala will be a throwback to the 1920s with costumes, dancing and jazz music.

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 and all proceeds raised by the event will go to support the hospital’s new Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Tickets are $90 each, or $85 each if they are bought as a group of four. Tickets are available at the Scotiabank on Brookdale Ave., at the CCHF office at the hospital, or online at cornwallhospitalfoundation.ca .

The event will be a dip back in time, says CCHF Executive Director Amy Gillespie.

“People are getting really excited,” she said. “They’re saying they’ve been going online and looking for costumes.”

Guests are not required to come in costume, but for those who want to look their retro best, Andre Pommier of Pommier Jewellers has a few tips.

“Pearls and diamonds are in,” he said. “In the twenties, pearls and diamonds were huge. They all had long pearls. People love the roaring twenties, there was so much excitement.”

Thanks to Pommier, one lucky person will leave the party with some extra glamour. Pommier Jewellers has donated a ring valued at $6, 700 as a prize to be given away at the gala.

The ring is made of white and rose gold, it is covered in diamonds with a special diamond set in the middle that has 150 facets in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary.

The ring is a part of a his-and-hers prize package that also includes a state-of-the-art Traeger Grill.

The ring and grill will be given away through a raffle. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase soon and will be $10 each or $20 for four.

It promises to be a fun filled evening at the Nav Centre and Chef Luc McCabe is preparing a huge and delicious tableaux inspired by popular dishes from the 1920s.

For those guests who do not want to worry about having a ride home, Uptown Kia is offering a shuttle service to and from Cornwall. Also, the Nav Centre will be offering reduced room rates for guests who want to spend the night. For more information call 613-936-5800 or email reservations@navcentre.ca.
