CORNWALL, Ontario – Police, paramedics and the fire department were called to a blaze on St. Felix street on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 17.

Bystanders told Seaway News that the fire was started by a lawn fire on the front property of 316 St. Felix St at around 1:20 p.m..

The fire quickly spread to the front porch of the building and quickly engulfed the interior and upper floor.

Strong winds created the danger of the fire spreading to other buildings and smoke was seen coming from some neighbouring properties.

The fire also spread to a burgundy pick-up truck parked in a neighbours driveway.

Cornwall Electric arrived to cut the power to the building. Powerlines to the building fell into the street because of the fire.

A large crowd quickly gathered to watch the fire fighters in action.

No injuries are known at this time and the official cause is still under investigation.
