CORNWALL, Ontario – Some 22 high school girls will receive free makeovers this spring as they head off to prom with their favourite someone.

Karley Gagnon (Hott Stylz) and Allison Belanger (Poppin’ Makeup and More) are organizing the first-ever SD and G Makeover Project. The duo has secured sponsorships that will allow two girls from 11 Cornwall and area high schools to be selected to have a makeover in time for their prom.

Applications are being sought from family, friends, teachers, bosses and anyone else who knows of a deserving young woman looking forward to some pampering before heading off to prom.

“We’re going to be reviewing every story,” Gagnon said in an interview.

Belanger added that the stories can cover everything from an individual’s academic work, to local volunteering and stories for young women of limited means.

“If you have a niece that you think should be nominated then we want to hear from them,” said Belanger.

Applications are being collected via email, and should include a message of not more than 100 words as to why the young woman should be nominated.

More information on the rules of the project can be found on Facebook.

The day of the prom for each school the winners – chosen by Belanger and Gagnon – will be pampered at The Loft, a Cornwall salon. Food (Moustache Joe’s), flowers (Blooms), makeup and nails (Hott Stylz and Poppin’ Makeup and More) as well as before and after photography (Carol Grant and Kelsey Lindsay) will be provided free of charge.

The deadline to submit an entry is April 22, and Belanger and Gagnon are urging people to provide their entries as quickly as possible.
