CORNWALL, Ontario – Just when you thought the traffic mess in Cornwall couldn’t get any worse, there’s word this morning that a water main break at a busy city artery has taken place.
The eastbound lanes of Ninth Street between Pitt and Sydney Streets will be closed Tuesday in order to fix a broken water main near the intersection of Ninth and Sydney streets.
There will be signage in place and motorists can detour via Pitt Street, Seventh Street and Sydney Street.
The lanes are expected to reopen to traffic later tonight, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
This is on top of traffic delays along Marlborough Street where city crews are completing a massive storm sewer reconstruction, and the Brookdale Avenue area where the demolition of the high-level bridge has created traffic problems for months.
