CORNWALL, Ontario – A 26-year-old man has been charged by police with second-degree murder in the death of an Akwesasne woman.
Akwesasne Mohawk Police charged Ryan John Lazore. That police service had received help from the New York State police in its investigation.
On Wednesday afternoon, police released a statement confirming the identity of the deceased woman as Lori Sue Lazore, 46. She was found dead by police in a residence on Oak Court in TsiSnaighe, Que., part of the Akwesasne territory.
They had been alerted to a potential incident by New York State police and had gone to her home to check on her wellbeing. Investigators from state police assisted Akwesasne Mohawk officers with the subsequent investigation of the suspicious death.
Lazore was held in custody in New York State.
