Arrest made in Longue Sault P.S. arson

LONG SAULT, Ontario – Following ongoing investigations into several mischief incidents at Longue Sault Public School Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified and charged an adult male, William McDonald, 22.

In September and October 2016 police responded to several reports of broken windows, graffiti at Longue Sault P.S. On Oct. 9, a fire had been set at the above the school.

On Oct. 25, 2016, SD&G OPP Crime Unit and uniform members conducted a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a residence on Saunders Ave., South Stormont Township and arrested the suspect. A quantity of suspected marijuana was also seized in the home.

William McDonald of South Stormont Township is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5, 000 (5 counts)

– Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence

– Arson – Damage to Property

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
