CORNWALL, Ontario – After weeks of shedding members, The Art Gallery – Cornwall has added a new face.
The gallery announced Wednesday Karen Douglass Cooper will join its board, bringing the total number of members to six.
Her inclusion on the board will be made official next week.
“Karen is a great addition to this board’s team,” said TAG president Wyatt Walsh. “We are changing things at TAG and feel that the art community in the region will respond to the new programs and direction of the gallery.”
TAG has taken it on the chin for several weeks as a number of members jumped ship, not to mention previous boards that resigned en masse and others who openly questioned executive director Sylvie Lizotte.
Douglass Cooper is a resident of Cornwall and a graduate of Visual and Creative Arts from St. Lawrence College (Cornwall) receiving a diploma in Graphic Design / Photography as well as certification in Municipal Administration.
Over the past 20 years she has worked in educational and communication roles within federal , provincial, and municipal government administrations serving the City of Cornwall in the role of arts and culture coordinator for eight years.
She currently is the Communications Officer / Remedial Action Plan Coordinator at the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences.
