CORNWALL, Ontario – Organizers are calling it a “sad but necessary event” as they plan an auction this weekend of local filmmaker John Earle’s collectibles.

The items from Earle’s Vintage + Design plus the personal items of the popular Cornwall man who passed away this summer will be up for sale Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at Dream Builder Studios on Second Street West.

“Our dear friend was quite the collector,” says a Facebook event page dedicated to the auction, the proceeds of which will go to Earle’s estate for distribution according to his wishes.

The list of items available is as extensive as Earle’s well-known Cornwall projects.

A partial listing of items includes Second World War memorabilia, telephones, boxing gloves, scuba gear, a projector, stools and even a Hari Kari set. There are also vehicles, including his Volkswagen Beetle, a Land Rover and a Nissan Cube.

The auctioneering is being handled by father-daughter team Murray and Jennifer Blair of Seaway Auction Company. Absentee bids are being accepted and the auctioneers should be contacted directly for more details.
