Back in the saddle at Horse Lovers’ Weekend

CORNWALL, Ontario – This job takes a special breed.

Thousands of spectators are visiting Upper Canada Village near Morrisburg during the annual Horse Lovers’ Weekend, which runs until Monday (September 7), from 9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

In addition to numerous demonstrations by professional horse specialists, the festivities included horse-drawn wagon rides and boat rides, a horse parade, and a mock horse auction.

On Sunday, Spirits in Unity member Yannick Lafrance and his trick pinto pony, Poncho, wowed the crowd with a humorous routine of impressive, high-flying antics.

Farrah Green, three-star Parelli professional instructor and horse specialist, rode into the fairgrounds in traditional Spanish wear, holding a Garrocha (long pole). As salsa music rang out, the pair moved with mesmerizing grace and rhythm.

This year also pays tribute to the 350th anniversary of the Canadian Horse, an exclusive breed that live and work at the village.
