CORNWALL, Ontario – Family and friends of the late Brian Tardiff, along with City of Cornwall representatives, dedicated one of the ball diamonds in King George Park in his memory on the evening of Friday, July 21.

Brian Tardiff was a leader in sports and in the community of Cornwall.

He was involved for 45 years in men’s softball in Cornwall and 25 in girl’s minor hockey as well as girls softball.

Tardiff passed away in August 2016 of ALS.

“He was a true gentleman and a great ambassador for our community,” said David Murphy last year when Tardiff passed. Murphy played alongside Tardiff on the softball field for 10 years. “Brian was instrumental in the growth of girls hockey and softball in Cornwall and area.

I was honoured when he asked me to help him coach a women’s softball team several years ago.  We spent some time at the Ontario Hockey Academy together recruiting for the school too.  ”

After the dedication of the field on Friday, the group gathered there played some games of mixed 3-pitch and fastball in his honour.
