CORNWALL, Ontario – The Federal Bridge Corporation said that the closed section of Brookdale Avenue will re-open this Friday, Dec. 16.
Andre Girard, Vice President of Communications for the Federal Bridge Corporation said that the Dec. 16 re-opening date for the major Cornwall traffic artery was well ahead of the original January schedule.
Girard added that the project did not experience any overrun costs because of the delay to the re-opening of the Second Street and Brookdale Avenue intersection.
The intersection was originally scheduled to open Sept. 30, but was delayed by several weeks.
John St. Marseille, the City of Cornwall’s General Manager, Infrastructure and Municipal Works has acknowledged that the work is complex due to the different levels of infrastructure and utilities involved.
“These are critical streets within our traffic network and the work is quite extensive as some include significant sewer and waterworks components that need to be coordinated with various utilities as well,” said St. Marseille. “We recognize that these projects have created inconveniences and we appreciate the continued patience and cooperation or motorists and residents while these projects are completed.”
