CORNWALL, Ontario – The United Way of SD&G has received a $30,428 boost thanks to a donation from the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.
After the cheque presentation on Wednesday (Dec. 16), United Way of SD&G announced it has reached 75 per cent of its 2015 goal of $710,000.
The contribution equaled a 10 per cent boost for the campaign in recent days, which wraps up on Friday (Dec. 18).
“We greatly appreciate the generosity we have received so far, but we still need our community’s support,” said Lori Greer, executive director at United Way of SD&G.
Donations of $25 or more before December 18 enters you into a draw for a $3,000 Travel Quest gift certificate, sponsored by Your Credit Union.
United Way of SD&G officials noted that if 1,745 people each give $100 they would reach their goal.
The agency supports 17 local non-profit agencies (offering 18 programs), serving thousands of residents across Cornwall and the United Counties.
United Way officials will be drawing the winner of the celebration sleigh at the Cornwall Square on Friday (Dec. 18) at noon.
