CORNWALL, Ontario – Two city residents were charged Wednesday after the Cornwall Street Crime Unit seized marijuana, cocaine, and money linked to drug dealing in a Hillcrest Avenue home.

Cornwallites Sarah Brazeau, 25, and Jason Poirier, 36, were charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine, trafficking marijuana, and possession of marijuana.

Poirier was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime (cash), and two counts of breach of probation for having contact with someone he has conditions not to and for failing to keep the peace.

Both were later released to appear in court on October 14.

Arson suspect nabbed

A 30-year-old local man with a long history of criminal activity was arrested on Wednesday after he turned himself into city police in connection to a house fire that occurred on May 30 at a Seventh Street East address.

James Quinn was charged with arson and released to appear in a Cornwall courthouse at a later date.

Swing and a miss

A 34-year-old Cornwall man swung a bat at a 50-year-old man near Ninth Street and Marlborough Street on September 4.

The alleged attacker and the victim knew each other.

Joseph St. Denis was charged with assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14.
