CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall police had to draw their sidearms while arresting an 18-year-old who was brandishing a weapon later determined to be a BB gun.
Jesse Whitford, 18 of no fixed address was arrested on June 14 and charged with assault with a weapon, personation, weapons dangerous, pointing a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
Police said a man, while walking in the area of Cumberland Street and Fourth Street, pointed a firearm at citizens.
With guns drawn police intercepted the man in the area and took him into custody. Once in custody a weapon was recovered and found to be a BB gun.
During their investigation the man falsely identified himself and was charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
