Cornwall artist opens downtown studio
Cornwall artist Frank Burelle hosted an open house at his new downtown studio on Saturday

CORNWALL, Ontario – Illustrator, photographer, documentarian – and now Frank Burelle has a space to teach others his passion for all things creative.

The local artist’s studio is officially open for business at the corner of Sydney and Second streets, upstairs from the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce building and the license bureau – entrance located on the east side.

The 43-year-old husband and father of two hosted an open house on Saturday (Nov. 7).

“I’ve been at it for so long I’ve picked up many disciplines – I’m a professional photographer, illustrator, cartoonists, filmmaker,” said Burelle.

The studio will start with drop-in classes for all ages any skill level, but will expand to eight-week courses starting in January.

“Anything that I’m good at that people want to learn, I want to teach. All of these things now equal a career, and this place was a step in that direction. I get to teach and I don’t have to clear anything with anyone. I teach what I want, when I want,” he said.

Burelle’s ‘100 Portraits Project‘ made a splash this summer, while his independant films and drawings have been a staple of the area’s art scene for decades.
